“The last weeks have been challenging for all of us, in almost all aspects of life. The impact of COVID-19 has been felt worldwide, across all sectors, but none have been so hard hit as the health care sector. Now, more than ever, health care workers are proving how they are an indispensable part of our society. We cannot begin to imagine the effects of COVID-19 without the tireless work of those on the front lines who risk their lives every day to save ours.

So let us take this opportunity to thank all our workers in the health care sector who have been at the front line during this unprecedented global event. If you are one of these front line workers, our deepest thanks go out to you for the tremendous work that you have undertaken in these last few weeks.

An additional thank you goes to those practicing good hygiene, social distancing, and where possible staying at home.

We must also acknowledge how important it is to take care of our own mental health while we take care of the mental health of others. We, of all people, know the value of social connection. It is essential for our mental health and wellbeing during this time. So I urge you to take some dedicated time not only for self-care but to also check-in with colleagues, friends and family, even if it’s just to say hello.

We will emerge from this pandemic a stronger, kinder community.”
