HOPE into Action
After decades of individual and collective advocacy, we are on the cusp of a mental health revolution. Mental health is now a political issue and 2021 is set be the watershed year when Commonwealth and State reforms start to come to life.
But despite the incredible progress, our work is not yet done. To realise a new vision for mental health, people with lived experience, community and hospital care providers, and those charged with managing reform implementation need to work together.
A path forward, richly informed by diverse community voices, that includes Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing, is at the heart.
With hope, collaboration, and energy, we can create a world leading, contemporary and compassionate mental health system that will serve all Australians and New Zealanders.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to embed diverse community voices and lived experience at the centre of mental health system design and delivery.
COVID-19 has shown us we can adapt quickly when forced. With emerging technologies and new partnerships the opportunity to “change and do” is within reach.
HOPE into Action, the TheMHS 2021 Melbourne Conference offers an opportunity to share, embrace, reflect, celebrate and explore our diversity, our lived experiences, stories, creativity, and wisdom.
ABOUT TheMHS CONFERENCE
The annual TheMHS Conference is held in a different city around Australia and New Zealand each year and attracts approximately 1,000 delegates annually.
The Mental Health Services Conference is strongly interdisciplinary and multisectoral – making TheMHS Conference the place to be for networking in the mental health sector. Our delegates come from a diverse range of personal and professional backgrounds including clinicians, managers, consumers, carers, researchers, educators and policy makers.
We know that it is important to hear not just from researchers and clinicians, but also from consumers, carers and service managers. Our program reflects the diversity of the mental health sector and our keynotes are selected to bring the very best and latest insights into issues of mental health and wellbeing.
