Abstract: Providing mental health services with in a school environment is a deliberate focus on promoting accessibility as well as acceptability through creative partnerships. It is within this context that the Community Group Program (CGP) was set up in 1999 to provide a range of child and adolescent mental health focused specialist services. This predominantly involves group work programs with a ‘train the trainer’ component, as well as school consultations and professional development. Services are offered at the level of primary/early prevention through to indicated/high risk interventions. Over five years on and our evaluation shows post group children and young people who have attended our groups exhibit significant improvements in their psychological functioning and that these changes are sustained.
