Abstract: High profile sports journalist Craig Hamilton was about to catch a train for the assignment of a lifetime, the Sydney Olympic Games. But on the platform he had a violent psychotic episode and by day’s end was in the high security wing of a psychiatric hospital. When he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder or manic depression, Craig had to re-evaluate his life. A country boy who began his working life as a coalminer, Craig began a profound transformation. The experience has given him new insights into his own life and spirituality, as well as a deep appreciation of those who rallied to help a once proudly self-reliant man.
