Abstract: Employment changed my life and gave me a new way to define myself. My peers now considered me in light of my achievements and successful relationships, rather than my mental health diagnosis or former psychosocial disability. My passion is to help other people with mental health issues to achieve social inclusion, confidence, personal value, skills development and financial resources through employment. People with a lived experience deserve to work just like everyone else, however there are many barriers and participation statistics are grim. We need to create the conditions to self-empower those people with a lived experience to have the same opportunities of employment as other members of the community.
