Abstract: The concept of a Rural Mental Health Service is a relatively new initiative in East Arnhemland. Neil Mcleod is currently the only Community Mental Health Nurse employed in Rural East Arnhemland NT. Neil Mcleods role over the past 2.5 years has been the establishment of a Bi-cultural Mental Health Service in the remote rural area's of East Arnhemland.
This paper provides the reader with some insights into the relevant issues of providing a successful and cost effective mental health service on a very limited budget in the remote and isolated cross cultural setting.
