Abstract:

This e-poster was developed as a record of a collaborative project between a group of young people who are clients of Youth Mental Health (Health Department of Western Australia), and a clinician facilitator from Youth Mental Health. The poster reflects the content of a presentation delivered at the TheMHS Conference 2018, (in “Pecha Kucha” format) featuring photographs, artwork, spoken text and music, developed and presented by members of the Youth Reference Group. The presentation described lived experiences of the mental health journey of the young people, highlighting features of service delivery within Youth Mental Health which have supported their recovery journeys. These features include responsiveness to young people who experience barriers to accessing mainstream services, including trauma histories, diverse gender and sexuality, and cultural barriers for Aboriginal young people.
