Abstract: Recent research has established the burden of child and adolescent psychopathology and the range of impairment across numerous functional domains. However, do current, predominantly clinic-based therapy models sufficiently serve this need, especially in the ‘new morbidity’ of children with severely prejudicial and traumatic background and extensive functional impairment? This paper considers this issue in light of new service developments such as Multisystemic Therapy, that deliver interventions in a broader ecological framework.
