Abstract: An approach to dealing with complex issues, like mental well-being, is presented. It covers three domains, key concepts and methods and a five question framework. The domains are synthesis of disciplinary and stakeholder knowledge, comprehensive understanding and management of unknowns and combining these to provide integrated research support for policy and practice change. The five question framework applies to each domain and provides a systematic way of approaching the key concepts and methods. Together these form the new discipline of Integration and Implementation Sciences (see http://i2s.anu.edu.au).
