Abstract:
Michael has been a policeman for 20 and a half years, that half is very important. He started Mental Health Cop in 2011. He worked as a mental health lead in police headquarters and then cuts meant that this role came to an end and that’s when he started his blog Mental Health Cop because he still had lots of policemen ringing him and asking him for advice. His job is he writes and reviews police documents around mental health. He gives expert advice to the coroner’s court both in the UK and here. He’s the main police person on the review of the UK Mental Health Act and he supports and advises police on legal issues. He has an OBE, which was awarded in 2016.
