Abstract: Thee people with personal experience of schizophrenia and a community mental health worker gathered and recorded practical and creative strategies that people with schizophrenia use to deal with the day to day challenges of living with the illness. The group compiled the strategies into a book, "Living Well with Schizophrenia". 2000 copies have been printed and over 1,000 distributed with very positive feedback. The group also used the ideas collected to run a series of workshops and produce a 12 minute video for people with mental illness. Over 100 people with mental illness contributed their valuable ideas to this project. Description of Facility/Organisation: The Schizophrenia Fellowship of SA is a non-government organisation which has established in 1983 to promote community awareness about schizophrenia and support people with the illness and their carers. The Fellowship is funded by the State Government and through membership and donation. It provides a service throughout South Australia.
