Abstract: NRF is a non-profit community association in the country town of Lismore on NSW's Far North Coast. Established in 1981, NRF has current membership of 50 people with chronic mental illness and their families and friends. NRF's main activity is supported community housing for 15 chronic mentally ill. NRF recently launched a free, state-wide HelpLine telephone service to NSW country districts in collaboration with NSW Institute of Psychiatry and NSW Association for Mental Health. NRF shortly will establish and "entry-point" refuge for 6 homeless mentally ill. NRF receives recurrent Health funding of just $22,000 to employ a single part-time worker. Description of Facility/Organisation: NGO base on Lismore, NSW Far North Coast (Est. 1981). Supported community housing for 15 chronic mentally ill. Short-term refuge accommodation for 6 homeless chronic mentally ill. Free telephone support and specialist information and referral services to all NSW country districts on collaboration with NSW Institute of Psychiatry and NSW Association for Mental Health.
