Abstract: This paper demonstrates how the tailored medication information forum through verbal and
written approaches, has resulted in a promising and satisfying outcome from the Vietnamese and Chinese consumers’ perspective. The tailored Medication Information Forums, facilitated by a mental health pharmacist and psychiatrist, provides psychoeducation about mental illness, the role and side-effects of psychotropic medications. These forums also answer any questions that the participants may have about their treatment and provide participants with the tools to seek resources and further information about their treatment. At the end of each session, appropriate translated versions of the questionnaires are given to the participants for feedback. Results from our questionnaires demonstrate how the tailored Psychiatric Medication Information Forums and translated booklets can improve consumers’ perceived satisfaction about the medication information provision. The forums also empower these consumers and their carers to feel more comfortable in seeking further information on their mental illness and become more active in their comprehensive treatment plan.
