Abstract: P.A.L.S is a program which involves volunteers working with people with psychiatric disorders to provide a range of services with the aim of improving the quality of the clients' life. P.A.L.S. provides clients with skills and opportunities that would not otherwise be available to them. It is a complementary part of the clients' clinical treatment plans or rehabilitation program. P.A.L.S. aims to achieve the following outcomes for clients: (1) Improved range of living skills, (2) Increasing access to general opportunities and motivation to participate more in the general community, (3) reduction in clients' isolation, (4) reduction in re-admission for some clients, and (5) reduced family burdens.
