Abstract: There are both rewards and challenges in public, community managed organisations, and private mental health services in appointing, training and supporting high quality Peer Workers and staff to other designated Lived Experience roles. As these same concerns may be present in services other than mental health services, and in the general workforce including the corporate sector, we need to break down the myths and barriers that currently exist in mental health services in order to prove the expertise, capability and value add of the Lived Experience workforce.
