Abstract: Prahan Mission, which is a community service agency of the Uniting Church, has been providing services for people who have a psychiatric disability since the late 1970s. Beginning with an informal Drop-in Centre the programs have grown to now include day centre skill training and support, supported housing services, specialist services for women with dependant children, people from a non-English speaking background, open employment and aged care support. The strength of the Mission's programs lies in the fact that the organisation provides a culture of acceptance, operates all its programs on the basis of assisting people's empowerment and has a developed expertise in working with people who have a psychiatric Description of Facility/Organisation:
