Abstract: In 2009 the Council of Australian Governments called the first national child protection policy ‘Protecting Children is Everyone’s Business’ so as to involve a broad range of investors in supporting our most valuable resource; children. The Australian Centre for Child Protection’s initiative, Protecting and Nurturing Children: Building Capacity, Building Bridges, partnered with 12 Communities for Children programs located in each state/territory except ACT. This partnership is building stronger local relationships between diverse child and family focused services and the services concerned with Alcohol and Other Drugs, Domestic/Family Violence, Mental Health, Homelessness etc. in these 12 communities. Strengthening relationships across service sectors aims to foster collaboration to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and their families. Feedback received from many of those involved in the initiative provides insights about engaging diverse service providers in joint efforts to prevent/limit harm to children.
