Abstract: Working together in partnerships is an important growth area for providing improved coordinated care and positive outcomes for users of mental health services. As part of the National Health and Hospital Reform (NHHR), Divisions of General Practice are applying to become Medicare Locals and will be responsible for providing integrated care. It will be up to community managed organisations (CMOs) to ensure that they are adequately represented by building relationships and local networks at the local level. MHCC has sought to investigate a diversity of approaches to building awareness and networks between sectors to enable people with mental health problems better access to both clinical and social supports. The paper aims to provide an overview of MHCC’s work with the Divisions and Medicare Locals within the context of strategies for partnership and relationship building.
