Abstract: The mental health carer has an important role to play in a person’s recovery and this is acknowledged in recovery frameworks and procedures. Less attention is paid to carers’ recovery, their journeys of ongoing grief, worries about loved ones, and frustrations usually centred on not being listened to or provided with adequate information. Informed by the findings of Carers ACT Mental Health Carers Representation program, this paper explores to what extent recovery is possible for carers by including the narratives of two carers alongside an analysis of the literature.
