Abstract:
Flourish Australia’s keystone position on diversity and inclusion in the workplace supports a breadth of identity and knowledge, qualifying supports from foundations of lived-experience. One of the key groups identified within this policy is the Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community. People bring their best when they feel confident, supported and included. Flourish Australia’s Rainbow Network encourages individuals to bring their whole self to work, enabling individuals to celebrate their identity in an environment of openness, trust and worth. This contributes to Flourish Australia’s submission to the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), a national benchmark of diversity and inclusion. Embracing diversity in the workforce is proving to be of great benefit to people’s journey of recovery of mental wellbeing by not only those who access support, but of staff as well. As a result, people who identify as LGBTI can access mental health support with dignity, self-esteem and pride.
