Abstract: The aim of this paper is to describe the personal experiences of Consumer Researchers, interviewing other mental health consumers of public mental health services. The Consumer Researchers were part of a team employed on a consumer research project - the “Consumer Evaluation of Mental Health Services” (CEO-MHS). These consumer interviews were recorded on cassette tape to gather experiences of consumers from the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Sydney Metropolitan and Mid-Western regions of New South Wales. This process occurred in collaboration with a group of established researchers from the University of Wollongong. The following paper will reflect different experiences of two Consumer Researchers and the process of conducting these interviews.
