Abstract: Outcome measurement has been mandatory in all Australian public mental health services since 2003. It is, however, a constantly changing and evolving area, with new resources being developed, new and imaginative ways of using information being trialled, and thought being given to future developments and enhancements.

This symposium was led by two presenters who are at the forefront of outcomes measurement in Australia. Tom Trauer has conducted local, national and international research and development in the field, and Tim Coombs leads the training and service development arm of the Australian Mental Health Outcomes and Classification Network (AMHOCN) the national peak body for outcome measurement.
