Abstract: This paper describes the way in which a West Australian agency has worked with children and young people to enhance their resilience through their inclusion and participation in the development of the Children of Parents with Mental Illness (COPMI) Program. The paper provides the background and context of the program and highlights a number of components of the theory of resilience. It outlines some of the strategies that have been used in a resilience-led approach and provides examples of positive outcomes that have arisen from young people’s participation in the program and their management of circumstances of adversity.
