Abstract: Heidi Everett is an experienced producer of innovative lived experience arts projects based in Melbourne, Australia. Using social media, local resources and minimal funding, Heidi has amassed an impressive folio of social and personal accomplishments in person-centered social movement arts. These projects are based in a genuine love of the story arts, aligning them as a powerful instigator of cultural progress. An example of Heidi’s pioneering drive is the ever-evolving ‘Schizy Week’; an annual event held since 2008. Schizy Week celebrates lived experience pride through the story-arts, with an ethos of creating safe gathering spaces in non-traditional mental health settings, such as campfires, libraries and live music venues. Schizy Week has involved hundreds of people over ten years. This paper shows how genuine creativity can be a powerful tool for recovering self-identity and cultivating shared lived experience voice.
