Abstract: The Turkish Radio Program is a regular segment on SBS Radio which informs Turkish-Australian listener of mental health issues and available resources. Trialled locally, the program now has an interstate audience. The Turkish Radio Project was initiated in an effort to address some of the barriers of existing service provision with the Turkish-Australian population of the Auburn LGA. Since it's inception, referrals have increased ten-fold and feedback indicates that those consumers are far more likely to access mainstream mental health services than ever before. Other groups which continue to be under-represented in referral figures may adapt the Project model to reach traditionally inaccessible groups Description of Facility/Organisation: Utilisation of mass media in the Auburn Holroyd Local Government Area (Population 50,000). The Turkish Radio Project has reached beyond the local Turkish-Australian population and accessed state-wide (and interstate) listeners.
