Abstract: While developmental trauma has largely been ignored by mainstream psychiatry until recently, technology has enabled us to get a much better understanding of the ways trauma changes the brain structures and functioning. In turn this is now enabling us to re-regulate brain functioning, so that people can better make use of talking therapies. There is a large volume of unmet need and government must be pressured to invest in effective specialist trauma treatment services. An up to date review of these findings will be presented.
