Abstract:

Youth Hospital in The Home (Y-HiTH) is a North Metropolitan Health Service – Mental Health, Youth Services initiative. Y-HiTH provides an equally effective alternative to inpatient hospital care for young people aged 16-24yrs who require support for a mental health illness. Y-HiTH is a voluntary service to young people residing in the North Metropolitan catchment area, in Western Australia. Y-HiTH has a capacity of 8 virtual beds. The virtual hospital admission allows clinicians to work with young people, their families and carers in their homes on a daily basis for up to 14 days. The first 12 month evaluation report from March 2017- March 2018 shows encouraging outcomes.
