Who are batyr?

batyr is a preventative youth mental health charity that believes all young people should have the opportunity to lead mentally healthy and fulfilling lives. Through our work in schools, universities and communities across Australia, batyr are improving mental health outcomes and saving lives.

What do they do?

batyr run mental health literacy programs in schools, universities, workplaces and communities that focus on stigma reduction and increasing help seeking behaviour. Whether it be online or face-to-face, batyr are experts at engaging with young people and championing their voices as catalysts for change.

batyr@school Tailored for students from Year 9 through Year 12, batyr integrates face-to-face programs with innovative digital platforms extending to teachers, parents and carers, providing a wraparound approach to support young people.

batyr@uni Through programs and student-led events, batyr partners with universities to act as a bridge between the students and the wellbeing services offered, with the goal of creating an open culture that supports students’ mental health.

Being Herd Designed for 18–30 year-olds, participants learn how to build the skills and confidence to share their lived experience of mental ill-health, how they reached out for support and how they manage their wellbeing today.

OurHerd OurHerd is batyr’s innovative safe digital platform designed to amplify the voices of young people to inform actionable change. It serves as a safe space for young people to share their mental health stories, listen or read other mental health stories, and access mental health resources.
