Summer Forum 2016 – S7: Keenan Mundine – Kool Kids, WEAVE

By February 19, 2016 No Comments

Keenan told his own story of growing up on ‘the Block’ at Redfern. His childhood was filled with experiences he wishes no one should go through. His peers shaped how he viewed the world which landed him in trouble with the law and drug issues throughout his teens. This eventually led to a prison term him, but Keenan also described how his experiences led him to become a youth worker and a recently a new father. Keenan’s story brought many audience members to tears.

He currently works at Weave Youth and Community Services as a Kool Kids Activity Worker. Kool Kids Club is an educational outreach and prevention program working with mostly aboriginal children aged 7-13 years in La Perouse and surrounding areas.
