INNOVATION IN PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AWARD

The purpose of this award is to recognise innovation in the development and delivery of public mental health services. Public mental health services are those services that are operated by a State or Territory Government in Australia, and by Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora in Aotearoa/New Zealand. This award seeks to identify and honour public mental health services, delivered at any level, that can demonstrate lived experience led, system-changing approaches to care. Approaches could include innovative cross-sector collaborations, improved access and crisis response, highly effective therapeutic approaches, or creative and sustainable models that effectively engage with marginalised and/or hard-to-reach groups. We expect the winner to have a demonstrated commitment to lived experience engagement, human rights and evaluation. They share their capability and learning in order to encourage scaling up of innovation.

LEADERSHIP IN PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AWARD

The purpose of this award is to recognise great leaders in the delivery of public mental health services. Public mental health services are those services that are operated by a State or Territory Government in Australia, and by Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora in Aotearoa/New Zealand. This award seeks to identify and honour public mental health service staff, working at any level, that can demonstrate courage, influence and care through their leadership and influence within a team, programme or Department. This person is values led and embodies principles of collaboration and advocacy to lead others and influence the system positively. They will also demonstrate resilience and perseverance in the service of and supporting both staff and consumers. We expect the winner to have a demonstrated commitment to lived experience engagement, human rights and evaluation. They are known for looking after colleagues and promoting the sustainability of their programme or initiative. As disruptors, they challenge the system, often from within, and the status quo, demonstrating an imagination beyond the current limitations. They share their capability and knowledge to support the development of the workforce and those in partner organisations.
