Abstract: The S.E.C.N. operates in the Eastern Sector of the South Eastern Sydney Area Health Service. It is a partnership between “consumers” of mental health services in this sector and the Mental Health Service. It provides a variety of services to consumers and encourages consumer participation in the mental health service. The network is consumer driven and seven consumers are employed to run groups both in the community and on the wards at the Prince Of Wales Hospital. They also provide one to one support on the wards most days of the week. Three people with different roles in the network describe their experiences and views of the S.E.C.N. Jo Sommer, Network Program Manager and Sector Rehabilitation Team Leader. Lynda Hennessy, consumer and Network Assistant. Timothy Kessel, consumer and Network Consumer Support Worker.
